Acute gastritis
Definition: Acute inflammation of the gastric mucosa
Aetilogy:
1. Hot and spicy food
2. Smoking
3. Alcohol
4. Others:
i. Ischemia
ii. NSAID
iii. Stress
iv. Systemic infection
Pathology:
Site: mucosa of the stomach
Macro(gross): mucosa of the stomach is hyperemic, swollen, edematous and cover by mucus. There is also erosion and ulcers
Micro: vasodilatation of capillaries, acute inflammatory cells( leucocytes and macrophages), mucin intra and extracellular
Complication: death due to hematemesis
